Our Story

Desert Road is a place where hope is born, and dreams are made.

Our journey began in 2019, when Mel received a divine vision during her time in prison. Through the loving support from a team of Kairos ladies and a prison chaplain, she found her way to Christ. Upon Mel’s release, she knew she wanted to help women who struggled to find support in their post-prison lives which often led them back to prison.

With the help of an amazing community of friends,

we officially launch Desert Road in 2024

Our team of 15 dedicated volunteers have poured countless hours into making this vision a reality. We are proud to say that we have finally hit the ground running and are prepared to make a difference in the lives of women from all walks of life.

Our name, Desert Road, was inspired by a powerful song that mirrored Mel's journey of feeling lost and alone in the desert, only to be guided by Jesus during her time in prison. And now, we are here to guide others on their own journey towards a better tomorrow.

We are grateful for all the love and support we have received on this journey so far. Our goal is for Desert Road to become a beacon of hope and a symbol of love and kindness for women all across the nation one day.

Together, we can make this world a better place, one woman at a time.
